Cardigan is great for kids. While resting, a family came past heading down from the peak. I laughed as a 7 or 8 year old girl skipped down the trail humming a tune. Her brothers were running and tagging rocks.
Very nice moderate day hike. Amazing 360 degree views from summit.

Love Cardigan. Not easy. Even the "easy" West Ridge Trail is a typical, NH, rocky and root infested climb. That's how our mountains play and we love them that way.
Views are incredible, nothing like watching the sunset on Cardigan.
